·The Japanese macro rubber tire trademark was declared invalid

Not long ago, the highly anticipated trademark dispute between the two tire companies in China and Japan had the latest results.

The "TOYOMOTO and Map" trademark of Tokyo Rihong Rubber Co., Ltd. was declared invalid by the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce.

Rihong Rubber was established in Japan in 1985 and is a Chinese-funded Japanese company. Its parent company is Rihong Saiyou (Beijing) International Trading Co., Ltd.

Since 2010, the focus of Rihong Rubber's operations has shifted to China.

In 2014, the Japanese tire company Toyo Rubber Industry Co., Ltd. filed an application with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce to declare the “TOYOMOTO and Map” trademark invalid. The trademark war between the two companies was launched in China.

On the top is the Toyo Rubber trademark, the next is the Honghong Rubber trademark.

Toyo Rubber believes that the trademark maliciously imitates its "TOYO" trademark.

Rihong Rubber insists that this trademark is its original creation and has been known to consumers in Japan. It coexists with the “TOYO” trademark and will not cause confusion and misunderstanding.

To this end, both sides have produced evidence to prove their views, and the number of evidence is more than 100.

The Trademark Review and Adjudication Board of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce comprehensively considered and communicated with the two parties to allow them to submit additional evidence, and finally ruled and announced that the “TOYOMOTO and Map” trademark was invalid.

According to reports, Rihong Rubber has many foundries in China. Their tires enter the international market under the TOYOMOTO brand.

A person in charge of Rihong Rubber said that the company also contracted two large Chinese companies to contract the Saudi Tire Manufacturing Company project.

The project uses TOYOMOTO technology and will produce TOYOMOTO brand tires. An investor in Saudi Arabia is a member of the royal family of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Once the trademark dispute is lost, these investments will be seriously affected, and the company may face huge claims from partners.

Before the results of this ruling were issued, the head of the company had told the media that if the ruling was really invalidated, they would certainly apply for a review or even file a lawsuit.
