The joint venture project for medium and heavy trucks is also expected to be approved by the National Development and Reform Commission next year. Once approved, JAC and Navistar will have a truck joint venture and an engine joint venture.

The new engine production line will be put into operation by the end of next year

The reporter learned that the Development and Reform Commission approved the joint venture of JAC and Navistar in the production of diesel engines in June this year. The registered capital of the joint venture company is 600 million yuan and the total investment is 1.8 billion yuan. The joint venture company shares both Chinese and foreign shares. The ratio is 50:50. The joint venture company will gradually form a production scale of 150,000 diesel engines.

According to Lu Wei, general manager of Navistar China, the joint venture company will first put into production 2.8L, 3.2L, 4.8L and 7.2L engines, of which, 2.8L engine JAC existing 2.8L4DA1 series light machine, technology platform For Isuzu 4JB1 diesel engine technology, the engine technology and related assets have been injected into the joint venture company by the Chinese Jianghuai Automobile Co., Ltd., while the foreign party invested in the equivalent cash. Wan Ruyi believes that having a full range of engine genealogy and technology portfolio is the biggest advantage of Navistar. “We have a 3.2L engine with 4.8L and 7.2L engines, 10L (actually 9.3L displacement), 11L and 13L engines. These engines use the most advanced high-intensity in-cylinder combustion technology from Navistar. ”

"The first production will be medium and light engines. In terms of large-displacement engines, we are discussing with the Chinese side which models are mainly suitable for introducing China," Yan Jingde added. Yan Jingde said that the life of the B10 heavy-duty engine of Navistar can reach 1.6 million kilometers without major repairs, but when it comes to introducing China, it must first look at adapting to China’s national conditions. “Our preliminary view is that the 10L Mays Fu engine may be suitable for price-sensitive 'economical' users, while the 11L-13L engine is suitable for high-end users who have long-distance transport and high durability requirements.”
