The price of all steel tires has been loosened, and the price cuts have spread within the industry. Today, individual companies cut their prices by 10%. Under the circumstances that the price of raw materials has been fluctuating, production capacity has increased, and demand has decreased, the author expects that the trend of price cuts in the all-steel tire market will continue.

First of all, the price of natural rubber has dropped significantly and it is difficult to support the current price of tires. Natural rubber is the main raw material for tires, accounting for nearly 50% of tire manufacturing costs. From the beginning of February this year, the domestic natural rubber began to decline, the lowest even fell below 30,000 yuan (t price, the same below) mark, a drop of nearly 30%. This is the biggest drop in natural rubber prices since the financial crisis started. After the Miyagi earthquake on March 11th, Japan’s three major automobile manufacturers stopped production, prompting a sharp drop in the price of rubber. With the launch of the new rubber, the rising momentum of natural rubber prices is weak. It is estimated that it is more likely to maintain the current price level or break the 30,000 yuan mark downward.

Second, China's all-steel tire market has serious overcapacity. The annual growth rate of China's all-steel tire production capacity is more than 30%. In 2010, the output of all-steel truck tires was about 80 million, but the production capacity has exceeded 100 million, and the capacity under construction is above 20 million. The current operating rate of tire companies is generally low. Most of the major steel tire manufacturers have only 70% of production load, and some tire companies near Shandong Dawang are only 40% to 50%. According to the statistics of 44 units of China Rubber Industry Association Tire Branch, the output of all-steel tires in April increased by 5.6% year-on-year, which is the lowest growth rate in recent years and a decrease of 4.5% from the previous month. The overcapacity of all steel tires, coupled with relative fragmentation, exacerbates competition in the industry and can easily lead to lower prices.

At the same time, the demand for all-steel tires has decreased and inventory is serious. China is currently implementing a tightening fiscal policy, and the development of the automobile and transportation industries is slowing down. The demand for all-steel tires has been significantly reduced. China's exports to Europe suffered from a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon crisis, and tire exports have seen a decline in volume. According to statistics from Chengdu Customs, Sichuan exported 563,000 tires from January to April this year, a decrease of 7.4% over the same period of last year. The decrease in demand has led to a sharp rise in tire industry stocks. Today, the average daily inventories of some large-scale steel tire enterprises have increased by about 5,000. The industry's April tire inventory reached 13.7 billion yuan, an increase of 41.2% year-on-year. Affected by this, recent tire dealers have started to place orders cautiously, waiting for the upstream manufacturers to cut prices after repeatedly raising the ex-factory price. With the price of natural rubber falling from a high level, the cost of tire manufacturing companies has been greatly reduced, which has become a reason for tire dealers to determine the ex-factory price or to follow suit.
