China’s Ministry of Commerce recently stated that it welcomes a decision of the US Court of International Trade, which requires the US Department of Commerce to withdraw the countervailing duties imposed on a Chinese manufacturer’s tire products. Xinhua News Agency quoted the Chinese Ministry of Commerce as saying that the above US court ruled on October 1, 2010 that the US Department of Commerce illegally imposed countervailing duties and anti-dumping duties on Hebei Starbright Tyre Co. The Chinese company launched a lawsuit against the US Department of Commerce in the above court in 2008. According to the report, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that China will use this case as an example to encourage domestic enterprises to safeguard their legal rights through legal means.
