According to the contract, Xi'an Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., a joint venture between the two sides with a ratio of 50:50, has a registered capital of US$24 million.
The ISM engine is the leading product of Cummins heavy-duty truck engines. This series of engines was also introduced for the first time in our country. The 11-litre fully electronically controlled heavy-duty diesel engine produced by the two parties, with a power range of 305-440 hp, is suitable for heavy trucks with a load of over 15 tons.
The joint venture plans to start construction by the end of this year and put into production in the third quarter of 2006, with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units.
On September 16, Shaanxi Automobile Group and Cummins Corporation of the United States signed a contract in Xi'an. The two parties jointly established Xi'an Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. and exclusively produced Cummins ISM type 11 litre heavy-duty diesel engines in China. Executive Deputy Governor Zhao Zhengyong and Xi'an Mayor Sun Qingyun attended the signing ceremony.
