And efficient testing methods. But for a long time, such instruments have mainly depended on imports.

Recently, the team of He Shitang, a researcher at the Institute of Acoustics, Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, completed the development of a surface acoustic wave gas chromatograph and realized the localization of such instruments.
Surface acoustic wave gas chromatography is an organic gas analyzer based on the combination of surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensor and gas chromatography. After gas chromatography separates the organic mixture into pure components, it is detected by a surface acoustic wave sensor, which has high sensitivity and chromatography. The column has a fast heating rate (about 20 °C per second) and small volume, and it can realize broad-spectrum (volatile and semi-volatile organic), rapid (within 5 minutes), and high sensitivity (ppb-ppt) on-site trace gases. Analysis has broad application prospects in public safety, environmental monitoring, food and drug testing.
During the development of the instrument, He Shitang team theoretically analyzed the response mechanism of the SAW gas chromatograph, calculated the lower limit of the instrument's quality detection, and designed the instrument's core component, the surface acoustic wave (SAW) detector, and analyzed the SAW. The sensitivity of different areas of the detector surface, according to the analysis results to optimize the docking parameters of the detector and the detector and the separation system. In addition, He Shitang team designed the sample enrichment and chromatographic separation system, surface acoustic wave detection system, numerical control system and auxiliary system and other sub-systems based on system integration and developed a surface acoustic wave gas chromatograph prototype. The detection limit of the prototype is reduced to half that of similar foreign instruments, which is equivalent to double the performance.
In addition to the traditional analysis of explosives, drugs, human odors, and water pollution, the He Shi Tang team also developed a detection function for Chinese medicine based on the use of Ruanxiang as a sample. Related research is expected to provide technical support for quality supervision of Chinese medicine. In the follow-up study, the team will focus on analytical method research, make the surface acoustic wave gas chromatograph detection more accurate, more complete performance, and combined with the application areas to develop a field-specific rapid inspection equipment.
