Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. introduced the MAX8645X/MAX8645Y with two minimum white LED drivers for camera module powered low dropout linear regulators. By integrating white LED drivers, the total area of ​​these charge pumps is reduced by 40%, and the camera flash driver and camera module are powered to a single IC. These devices are suitable for the LCD and illuminator modules of mobile phones.

The MAX8645X/MAX8645Y integrate two programmable 200mA low-dropout linear regulators for camera modules. These low dropout linear regulators have low noise performance to ensure a stable power supply during image acquisition. This is very important for image denoising of high resolution cameras. Two pins allow the selection of nine different output voltage combinations.

The use of a charge pump regulator can achieve the thinnest design due to the absence of an inductor. In addition, the patented 1x/1.5x/2x charge pump and ultra low dropout current regulator achieve an average efficiency of 85%. The MAX8645X/MAX8645Y offer a fixed 1MHz switching frequency that allows the use of tiny external components and further reduces the overall solution size. Six WLEDs can be driven at 30 mA per LED 5-level dimming and 0.2% current matching; two flash LEDs can also be driven up to 200 mA each. Dimming control can be implemented via a 2-bit logic interface or logic pin, which can be tied together and used as a serial pulse interface. Other features include soft start, overvoltage, and thermal shutdown protection.

The MAX8645X/MAX8645Y are available in a 28-pin thin TQFN, 4mm x 4mm lead-free package (maximum height of 0.8mm). The temperature range is from 40 ° C to +85 ° C. An evaluation kit that starts at $2.81 (from 1000, FOB USA) is available now.
