Tektronix has announced the addition of GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 1x EV-DO over-the-air (OTA) testing capabilities to its handheld NetTek base station analyzer. After launching UMTS/HSDPA and CDMA2000 OTA testing capabilities last year, Tektronix has been the only manufacturer to fully support the most common deployment technologies in a single handheld toolbox.

Cellular base station installation and maintenance technicians need efficient tools and techniques to reduce cost and commissioning time. The new OTA test function measures base station parameters comprehensively and accurately, while measuring the impact of the wireless environment, and technicians can verify system performance without leaving their car.

Arif Kareem, vice president of network diagnostics at Tektronix, said, "In the urban area, customers may have to test 50-75 base stations and only one instrument. NetTek base station analyzers have added OTA test function support, and difficulties in base station contact or requirements When you quickly check the performance of your base station, you can effectively meet your needs. NetTek is a powerful platform for optimizing the use of existing wireless services, while improving efficiency and reducing debugging time."
